Contemplating the life aquatic

Cheya Took, 13, from Ourimbah, on Australia’s Central Coast, gazes at Graham, a 60-year-old saltwater crocodile, at Territory Wildlife Park. “My dad’s sister lives in Darwin, near the park, and I’ve gone up there with my dad before. But this time I went by myself, so it was a chance to get away from the parents, tour around the country, have some fun and just relax. We just went to the park for the day. They had a lot of interesting animals there, and I took some great photos. Most of the park is wilderness, but the aquarium was like this underground area. There was this crocodile that had been there most of its time, doesn’t get let out. The owner was explaining to us what they feed him, and I was just watching him. He looked kind of sad. I sat there thinking, ‘Poor fella, I’ve been there.’ Just being stuck in there most of your life, being fed, not being allowed to go into the wild and do what you want. He’s probably happy, though. He got a lot of food.”
