"2009 Wulong international mountain outdoor sports open competition Chongqing China " will be held in Wulong from September 18 to 23. This competition is jointly sponsored by the General Administration of Sport of china, the State Administration of Radio Film and Television and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and co-hosted by the mountaineering management centre of General Administration of Sport of china, the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, the Chongqing broadcast television group (main station), the Chongqing television media Limited liability company and the Wulong County people's government. The race course's formulation of the "2009 Wulong international mountain outdoor sports open competition" will start in mid-March., manages by the international outdoor sport expert Mr. Peter. The virgin forest of White Horse Mountain will be possibly involved in the race course.

The White Horse Mountain brief introduction:

The white horse mountain wooded area is the natural growth subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest. There are many rare plants, which contains 361 national key protected species, such as Lotus leaf Adiantum, Metasequoia, silver fir, Liriodendron etc. National Class One protected plants contains silver fir, metasequoia, Chinese dove tree and so on, National Class two protected plants contains Lotus leaf Adiantum, Eucommia, Ginkgo, Liriodendron, Tetracentron sinense and so on, National Class three protected plants contains Nanmu, Amentotaxus, Tapiscia, Aesculus, Coptis, Magnolia, Gastrodia and so on. According to the preliminary investigations this area has more than 1200 species of higher plants. More than 450 silver firs have been discovered, The largest age is above 335 years, The biggest silver fir is about 28 meters high and 35.3cm for DBH. This area also contains many Herbal Materials such as Gastrodia, Eucommia, Coptis, etc. The white horse mountain wooded area also has the rich animal resources. There are 32 kinds of large-scale animal, Which contains first-class state protection animals such as Southern Chinese tiger(once had), Clouded leopard, black leaf monkey, white leaf monkey and so on, and contains second-class state protection animal s such as Lesser panda, Linsang, muntjac, Otter and so on. There are also about 130 species of 32 sections of birds, which contains first-class state protection birds such as Red abdomen tragopan, White crown long-tailed pheasant, eagle, Cuckoo and so on.
