Cliff Diving World Series returns to its most stunning stop - Yucatan
TIME: 10:00AM Monday April 11,2011
FROM:4MSPORTS

After the overwhelming success of the first tour stop on Rapa Nui with Orlando Duque (COL) claiming the victory, the Cliff Diving World Series 2011 now heads back to its presumably most stunning stop - Yucatan, the land of the maya!

On Sunday, April 10th the Cenote Ik Kil amid the Yucatan jungle will once again be the stand out venue with its spectacular and unique location! It is also located just a stone’s throw away from Chichen Itza - a UNESCO World Heritage site and recently listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

There are around 3000 cenotes in the state of Yucatan. These cenotes are natural wells and were once the only resource for fresh water in the Yucatan jungle. But for the Mayas the Cenote Ik Kil was a sacred well with magic powers and therefore location for their religious ceremonies. On Sunday the world’s best cliff divers will be captivated and inspired once more by its magic and saga as they plunge into the 60m-wide and 39m-deep sacred well.
