Upon your arrival in Chengdu, stay overnight in the local hostel and get prepared for your trekking. We would like to suggest you to stay in the Holly's Hostel, Chengdu(0086-(0)28-5165 9660), which locates in No.246 Wuhouci Street, Chengdu. You can take the shuttle bus to the Minshan Hotel and then take a bus to the Wuhouci Street. It will cost you RMB30-60 per bed per night to live in. Have a good rest and preparing your package.

The second day, take the direct coach from Xin'nanmen bus station in Chengdu with about 7 hours' drive. Upon your arrival in Kangding, take a minibus to Laoyulin Village, which located some 10km southeast of Kangding, can be reached by taking a minibus (RMB8.00 net) or chartering a van(RMB30.00) in about 20 minutes. Horse and guide can be hired here, RMB 40-50/day for each. The days will be calculated in double for return. For example, if you trek for 3 days, the charge for horse and guide should be 3x2 days. The third day, you can charter a van from Laoyulin to Washachang(RMB60.00), to where a walk takes 1-2hours. From Washachang to Shang Rewuqie is about 30 kilometers uphill along the Valley. Continue to trek till arrive in the Shangriwuqie. En route, you need to cross the river and pass through the Dacaoba. Have a short rest during your trekking. The hardest part is from Xia Riwuqie to Shang Riwuqie camping area. Stay overnight in the camp.

Konka Temple, Kangding

Trek around 6-7 hours on the fourth day. It takes about 3.5 hours from Shang Riwuqie to the Riwuqie Pass along a very steep uphill path with 8 kilometers. There is only a 5 kilometers open ground at the pass, dotted with mani piles and pray flags. After crossing the pass, the trek becomes much easier than before. After that, it will take you about 3 or 4 hours to walk downhill and arrive at the Moxi Gully base camp, which stretches for about 4 kilometers along the riverside.

The fifth day's walk is not so difficult if it doesn't rain, while the trekking today is very long. You can see alluvial lakes, creeks, grasslands, bushes and primeval forests during your hiking. Before arriving Kongka Temple(3740M), there is a fork road, take the left one to Konka Monastery(the right one leads to Cimei Village), and it will take about half an hour's trek to get thee. It will cost RMB30.00 to enter Konka temple. Camping inside is around RMB15.00 net per person, lodging in the hall is RMB20.00 per person. Info.: Minya Konka (Mt. The sixth day, have a short rest and you can enjoy some leisure time in the morning. You can taking the northwest path and return to Konka Temple before the lunch time. You can also have a try to go ahead to reach the base camp. This afternoon, trek about 2 hours to Zimei. Stay overnight at the local villagers' home. Hiking in Mt. Konka

The seventh day, trek about 4 hours to Zimei Pass(4600m) from Shangzimei Village. Motorcycle is available for RMB60.00 per person/ You can see the panorama of the Moxi Valley and the beautiful snow peaks from the Pass. After crossing over the Pass, go downhill along the river and after about 3 hours hiking, you will reach the Shangmuju Village. Stay overnight in the villager's house or camping.

Hiking in Mt. Konka

The eighth day, you can take a motorcycle or tractor from Shangmuju to Liuba. Upon your arrival in Liuba County, wait to take the coach from Liuba to Kangding or you can charter a private minibus to Kangding from Liuba. It will cost you about RMB120 from Shangmuju to Liuba and RMB400.00 from Liuba to Kangding. To save the cost, you are suggested to invite other trekkers to keep the cost. Or Take a Motorcycle or tractor from Shangmuju to 99 kilometers along a terrible dirt road(new road in construction), wave for a Kangding-bound bus at 99km. Or, charter a van back to Kangding from Shangmuju (around RMB600.00). Upon your arrival in Kangding, have a rest and stay overnight in Kangding. You can trek around the city if you still feel energetic.

The ninth day, transfer back by taking the coach to from Kangding to Chengdu. Stay overnight there.

The tenth day, leave Chengdu according to your time schedule. Your challenging Gonga hiking ends here.
