CATALINA STATE PARK - Going to a state park may cost you more money in
the future.
"It's understandable if they need it," said Courtney Crevitson, a hiker at Catalina State Park. "But it would be nice if they gave seniors a
discount."
Arizona State Parks is proposing to raise some of its fees. Facility use fee ranges would be reduced to a
minimum fee of $15 from $25. But many fees could go up. Non-electric
camping would be increased to $25 from $15. Electric camping fees would increase4 from $25 to $50.
"I wouldn't have a problem to pay a little more to keep the parks going," said Brett Berry, hiker at Catalina State Park. "We come up here every once in a while, hiking with our son, so we would do our part to support."
Not everyone supports the proposed hike. Liz Pederson and her friends go to Catalina State Park a few times a year, and feel the fees are already too high. "The $7 a day for a car isn't too bad, but in order to get the yearly pass, $75, that's an awful lot."

The changes, if made, won't go into effect until next spring.
