A 54-year-old hiker missing
overnight was found unconscious on Sunday
morning in
Rocky Mountain National Park, an
official said.
Rangers found
the woman, who was breathing but unconscious, around 10
a.m. about 3 miles up the
Summer Trail toward Odessa Lake, on the north side of
Flattop Mountain, said park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson.
The woman, an Estes Park resident whose name was not released, was flown
by medical helicopter about 11 a.m. to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver,
Patterson said.
A search for the woman began Saturday night after a family member
notified park rangers she was overdue after going hiking or snowshoeing in the
Bear Lake area. A family member found the woman's car at the Bear Lake parking
lot, Patterson said.
Rangers and family members searched for the woman in the Bear Lake area
until after midnight, she said.
Rangers found the woman Sunday morning while searching trails leading to
Odessa Lake and the areas around Nymph, Dream and Emerald lakes, Patterson said.
