Thursday, March 8, 2012, the 2012 UIM F1 H2O World Championship for power boating kicked off at Doha,Qatar.  Ahmed al-Hameli from Abu Dhabi won the race with 20 pts. The CTIC China Team pairing of Frenchman Phillipe Chiappe won the Second with 15 pts and the returning star and two-time World Champion Sami Selio of the Mad Croc Team ranked third.

Team Abu Dhabi's Ahmed al-Hameli led from start-to-finish, despite the yellow flag stoppages, and started the season with a maximum points' score. The second and the third heated up between Chiappe and Selio, but at the last lap, Chiappe made a wonderful go-ahead and runner-up successfully.
