RENO, Nev. -- A Reno man has been
killed in a skiing accident at a Lake Tahoe resort.
Placer County, Calif., sheriff's deputies say few
details are known about the accident that killed 51-year-old Scott Fritz on Thursday at Northstar California.
Sheriff's
public information officer Dena Erwin told the Reno Gazette-Journal (http://on.rgj.com/w77CVI ) that no
one witnessed the accident, and Fritz "most likely" struck a tree.
According to a statement
released by Northstar, the 10:15 a.m. accident occurred on the East Ridge Trail in the resort's Mt. Pluto area just north of Tahoe.
Fritz was wearing a helmet at the time, but was unconscious when ski patrol members reached him.
Northstar says efforts to revive him failed, and he died as a result of his injuries.
