Oh, that wacky Prince Charles - he's making Brits smile again, and in a good way for his ongoing campaign to prove he's not the stuffed shirt they think he is.
This time, the Prince of Wales was photographed attempting to climb a school gym climbing wall, dressed in his usual natty suit, a broad grin on his face. He and his wife, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, were on the island of Jersey for a Diamond Jubilee visit to the Channel Islands.
People reported that John McGuinness, head teacher at the school, said, "The prince did quite a stretch in his suit, and he drew a gasp from everyone, including the duchess."
Charles, 63, and first in line to the throne, is not as popular among the British as either his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, nor his son and heir, Prince William, and his wife Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, as recent polls once again confirm.
But his popularity is improving, and possibly that's a result of his recent forays into funny business. When he visited the BBC studios in Scotland recently, he was hilarious and credible when he jumped at the chance to deliver the weather forecast live. ("Rain over Balmoral!") Then, during a visit to Canada, he was snapped spinning records like a disc jockey, a pair of huge earphones on his prominent ears.
The future king may not be beloved, yet, but he might be getting there.
