Steve Walker, 34 a personal trainer at Steve Walker Active Training was leading a group of four on a three-day survival weekend near Pontneddfechan, Powys on Monday lunchtime, when he went missing.
His disappearance sparked a six-hour search involving officers from Dyfed-Powys Police, rescue dogs, an RAF helicopter and 12 volunteers from
the Brecon Mountain Rescue Service.
The alarm was raised at 6.45pm on Monday, 27 August with the search continuing until 1am Tuesday morning.
The search resumed on Tuesday morning at 10am on the mountain between Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte.
As emergency services looked for the Romford man he walked up to a BBC Wales news crew who were reporting on the search.
A BBC Wales reporter, Gwenfair Griffith on the scene took to social networking site Twitter to announce Mr Walker had been found, saying: “Steve Walker, 34, reappears in Pontneddfechan after being lost overnight. Our reporting team giving him water.”
BBC Wales reporters on the scene on Tuesday afternoon said Mr Walker had fallen into a river and hurt his leg after becoming separated from his group in bad weather.
Inspector Andy Reed, from Dyfed Powys Police said: “The 34-year-old man who is from the Essex area has been found safe and well and is currently being assessed by a medical team.
“I’d like to thank all the volunteers and officers who took part in this rescue, which has thankfully resulted in a successful outcome.”
Mr Walker had taken to his Facebook page on Sunday, a day before he went missing, to post pictures of the Brecon Beacons saying: “Views of the Brecon Beacons! You are ALL missing out!”
